8. Legal, Ethical and Professional Development
As helping professionals, we are continually engaged in critical communication with both clients and providers, serving as both messengers and recipients. But how often is the message we intend to convey truly understood by our clients? And are we fully grasping what they are trying to communicate to us? When complex emotions enter the picture, effective communication becomes even more essential. What best practices can we model to help our clients improve how they interact with others in their own lives?
In this session, we’ll take a deep dive into the ethical standards across a range of disciplines, including social workers, counselors, case managers, nurses, and psychologists. We’ll examine how communication issues can lead to ethical dilemmas and explore practical strategies for applying ethical principles to resolve them. Using creative tools such as literature, film clips, and other multimedia resources, we’ll uncover best practices for enhancing communication and learn how to avoid common pitfalls.
To conclude this full-day CE event, participants will engage in role-play scenarios based on actual “Ethics Committee” cases, using ethical frameworks to analyze and navigate these complex dilemmas. By the end of this dynamic and interactive training, you’ll leave energized and equipped with practical tools to enhance your communication and ethical decision-making in professional practice.
By attending this training, you will be able to:
