Healthcare professionals face unprecedented demands that test not only their clinical skills but their capacity for human connection. While we often discuss compassion as a "nice to have" quality, this presentation reframes it as a fundamental moral obligation rooted in the ethical principles that define our profession. This session explores why compassionate care is essential to ethical practice and the benefits of focusing on compassion.
Participants will learn a new framework for compassion. Through interactive application, you'll see how this approach helps participants bring clarity to compassionate work in healthcare and how you can improve your engagements with colleagues, patients, and the broader community. Whether you're a frontline clinician, a leader shaping organizational culture, or anyone committed to person-centered care, you’ll leave with concrete tools to integrate compassionate practice into your daily work.
By attending this training, you will be able to:
1. Describe the ethical foundation for compassion.
2. Apply the compassion framework to respond compassionately to others’ suffering.
3. Recognize critical moments for compassionate intervention in their daily practice.
4. Develop strategies for creating systems that prompt compassionate responses.
