On-Demand CE Training
The ripple effects of a worldwide pandemic will be felt for some time. COVID 19 has physically affected people of all different ages, races, genders, and ethnicities. More recently, researchers are acknowledging the impact on people’s mental health due to isolation, loneliness, and survivorship. Our senior population, both living in their homes or in other living arrangements, have been deeply affected in multiple ways. The isolation and separation from their friends, families and loved ones have caused depressive symptoms and other mental health challenges – often coupled with the complexities of survivorship. Join experienced nurse and crisis care manager, Aimee Gustitis, BSN, RN, JD, to learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of depression and explore why these mental health challenges are so prevalent in this population. Participants will find themselves better equipped to recognize mental health challenges, as well utilize new ways to prevent loneliness and isolation in our senior population.
1. Summarize the effects of isolation and loneliness on the senior population.
2. Recognize signs and symptoms of depression in the senior population.
3. Describe the impact that survivorship may have on senior clients.
