OVERVIEW:

This introductory training provides helping professionals with a foundational understanding of Internal Family Systems (IFS), including the concepts of Self, parts, and the internal system. Participants will explore how parts influence emotions, behaviors, and responses to distress, as well as how Self-awareness can support trauma-informed clinical practice. This training is designed as an introductory overview and does not certify participants in IFS practice.

OBJECTIVES:

By attending this training, you will be able to:

1. Describe the foundational concepts of Internal Family Systems, including Self and parts.
2. Identify how parts may influence emotions, behaviors, and responses to distress.
3. Discuss introductory ways to apply Self-awareness and parts-informed understanding in clinical practice.

PRESENTER BIO:

Monique Lang, LCSW-R

Monique is a psychotherapist, educator, consultant, and author with more than four decades of clinical experience. She has maintained a private psychotherapy practice since 1980, integrating insight-oriented therapy, Internal Family Systems, sensorimotor psychotherapy, EMDR, mindfulness, and earth-based healing practices. Monique has served as faculty for trauma and psychotherapy training programs, supervised clinicians and psychiatric residents, and developed numerous workshops on trauma recovery, integrative psychotherapy, ceremony, mindfulness, and healing. She is the author of Meditations & Ceremonies for Healing, Healing Post Traumatic Stress: A Workbook for Recovery, and Journey to Wholeness: Healing from the Trauma of Rape.
