Overview: Telehealth has rapidly expanded access to mental health services, but delivering care through digital platforms requires careful attention to competence, ethics, and client suitability. This 1-hour training is designed for private practice professionals who want to strengthen their confidence and skill in telemental health service delivery. We will clarify what constitutes telehealth delivery, examine best practices for competent and ethical practice, and provide strategies for assessing client appropriateness. Participants will also gain practical guidance on informed consent, risk management versus emergency management, and navigating ethical dilemmas in the telehealth setting.

He teaches and researchers in the areas of telebehavioral health practice, distance education, and the use of Al in social work practice and education. He utilizes e-simulations designed to enhance student clinical practice skills in a virtual setting. He is interested in enhancing e-social work distance education through program development and technology design, as well as utilizing technology-based interventions within clinical social work.

Dr. Daniel Taube brings a unique and formidable dual perspective to the field of professional liability, holding both a Juris Doctorate and a PhD in Clinical Psychology. As a Senior Risk Management Consultant with The Trust and Professor Emeritus at the California School of Professional Psychology, Dr. Taube has spent over three decades at the intersection of ethics, law, and mental health practice.

His extensive background includes serving on the APA Ethics Appeals Panel for over 20 years and founding the Forensic Family Child Track at Alliant International University. A seasoned practitioner in private practice since 1990, Dr. Taube is widely recognized for his ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable strategies for clinicians. He regularly consults with practitioners and agencies nationwide, helping them navigate the nuances of standards of practice, ethical dilemmas, and professional protection.
