OVERVIEW:
This 1-hour training explores mobile mental health services and how home- and community-based care differs from traditional office-based psychotherapy. Participants will examine evidence-based practices and therapeutic approaches that can be adapted for use in clients’ natural environments. The session will also address the benefits of mobile service delivery, including increased accessibility and opportunities for real-world assessment and intervention, as well as challenges related to boundaries, safety, privacy, and clinical decision-making. Participants will gain practical insight into providing effective, ethical, and responsive mental health services beyond the traditional office setting.
OBJECTIVES:
By attending this training, you will be able to:
1. Define the concept of mobile mental health services and be able to describe how they differ from traditional office-based psychotherapy models.
2. Identify evidence-based practices and modalities commonly used in the client's home and community-based settings.
3. Explain the benefits and challenges of delivering therapy in a client’s natural environment.

PRESENTER BIO:
Miranda Galligan, LCSW, is the owner of a private practice in Buffalo, NY, where she specializes in trauma-focused care using EMDR and CBT. She brings a background in community mental health working alongside various disciplines, specifically on mobile mental health teams, and has extensively worked with teens and adults across a range of concerns including depression, trauma, and other mental health needs. She also brings extensive experience as a director, supervisor, and trainer throughout her career.
Miranda holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from SUNY Buffalo State. She is trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, with a focus on evidence-based practice in all of her clinical and training work.
